Sant Kirpal Singh
Sant Kirpal Singh (6.2.1894-21.8.1974) stood for religious tolerance and spiritual awakening defining spirituality as the practical knowledge of mankind’s true destiny to return to its origin, God. In doing so, he emphasised the unity of all life and the value and dignity of each individual.
He taught true living, honouring one’s family and professional commitments while leading an ethically and morally pure life, as the basis on which spirituality flourishes. He led an exemplary life selflessly serving the sick and needy while attending to his roles as a family man and civil servant with the Indian government. He upheld that spirituality is a free gift from God and lived off his own income throughout his life.
Three world tours, 1955, 1963-64 and 1972, took him to the West, where he gave lectures across Europe and America and met with leading religious, political and social figures of the time.

Dr. Harbhajan Singh
“On the level of man, of soul or consciousness, we are already one. In spite of tyranny and murder prevailing, there is still hope for the world, and this hope lies in the spiritual link from man to man, from nation to nation. This genuine hope brings us together.
The problems of the world are not of political but of spiritual nature, so we have to find the solution on the spiritual level, on the level of consciousness.
The change will begin from man’s heart, this is the only way to bring unity into the world. If the ideal of unity has become our heart-felt desire, it will spread like a wildfire burning all hatred, enmity, separation, duality, and egotism. What will prevail is oneness.”
Dr. Harbhajan Singh
Commissioned by Sant Kirpal Singh, Dr. Harbhajan Singh (1932-1995) continued the work, together with his wife Biji Surinder Kaur.
Upon the division of India in 1947 they had to leave their home town which lay in today’s Pakistan territory and experienced the suffering of expulsion. Settling in the village of Nag Kalan, near Amritsar, Dr. Harbhajan Singh practised medicine taking care of patients from over forty surrounding villages, developing a reputation for caring for the poor.
After years of searching, he and his wife, Surinder Kaur, met Sant Kirpal Singh, immediately developing a commitment to his mission. They were soon entrusted with important tasks, while raising a family and running the doctor’s surgery. The hospital in Nag Kalan founded by Sant Kirpal Singh in 1973 has since been expanded.

Biji Surinder Kaur
“May joy shine like a ray of the sun; may each heart be filled with light. Wrath and hate shall leave us. We are all one. This we should recognize. We are the symbols of oneness.
Due to our weakness we have divided mankind in classes and different faiths, so we lost ourselves and forgot the unity. We have to know ourselves and to know the truth. We are soul, we are one, and we are a drop of the Oversoul.
God is beyond all our words, He is the true source giving us fresh nourishment. He is everywhere in the creation. A fish can only survive in water, but yet it asks, “Where is the water, where is the ocean?” Similarly, we ask, “Where is God?”, though He is in us. To know ourselves and to know God we have to overcome our delusion. Only then we are able to know the unity of man with God.“
Biji Surinder Kaur
Biji Surinder Kaur (1940-2016) determinedly led Unity of Man from 1995. She declared that she wanted to achieve twice as much as her husband to fulfil Sant Kirpal Singh’s mission. She was a woman of her word.
Under her guidance, Kirpal Sagar blossomed and new centres were created in the West. The emblem of Kirpal Sagar, the symbols of unity, were founded in 2002 and solemnly inaugurated in 2007 during another World Conference on the unity of man.
Sant Kirpal Singh had already confirmed in his lifetime that she was very advanced in meditation, and her practical example and incredible strength served as guidance and encouragement for all. The name Biji, as she was later called, means ‘mother’ reflecting how she connected with people in her role going forward. She accepted her spiritual connection and responsibility with all her heart.
After her birthday on March 10th, 2016, Biji said goodbye to us the 19th. Since then, everyone has been striving to continue the work in the spirit of Sant Kirpal Singh’s words, “with thousands of hands.”
